Facilitating Business

Economic and business cooperation between Indonesia and the EU is one of the most important pillars of the Indonesian economy, considering its potentials and contributions to trade, investment and technology development. It is therefore one of the main objectives of the Indonesian Mission to complement efforts at facilitating further cooperation in this field.

With this end in sight, the Mission supports the campaign by the European Commission and its Delegation in Jakarta to promote a number of different programmes that advance EU cooperation with Indonesia. Many of these programmes are organised within the framework of EU-ASEAN economic co-operation, or for the whole Asia and the world in general.

Examples of such programmes include:

• ASEAN-EU University Network Programme
• EC-ASEAN Cogen
• ASEAN-EU Management Centre
• ASEAN Energy Centre
• ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation
  
• Asia-Invest Programme.  The programme is aimed at promoting contact and joint ventures between small and medium enterprises in Europe and their counterparts in Asia.
  
• Asia-Urbs Programme.   The programme is aimed at promoting networking and co-operation among local authorities in the two regions.
  
• Asia-Link Programme.   The programme is aimed at promoting networking and exchanges among universities in the two regions.
  
• Asia-EcoBest Programme.   The programme is aimed at promoting technology exchanges in the field of environmental best practices.
  
• Asia IT&C Programme.  The programme is aimed at promoting co-operation in the field of information and communications technology.
  
• EU-Indonesia Small Projects Facility Programme (SPF).   This is a recently launched initiative of the EC that aims to promote economic cooperation between Indonesia and the EU and to support the on-going reform process of the Indonesian economy and systems of governance. This new initiative seeks to strengthen EU-Indonesia partnerships by supporting dialogue and co-operation between European and Indonesian civil society.
